Like many others, I started working from home when the pandemic began around March, 2020. My primary computer usage changed from a desktop to a laptop. One of the big differences I noticed is that I’m less effective using a trackpad vs a mouse. For whatever reason, I’m not that comfortable using a laptop on a table or at a desk. I prefer to sit on a bed or a recliner so a laptop desk sounded like the solution for me.
I first purchased a large laptop desk that had legs that folded down. I wanted to like it, especially because I paid over $100 for it, but it felt really cumbersome to me. It was an ordeal to get up to use the bathroom. It also seemed higher than I wanted to place my hands. Furthermore, I wanted to be able to take advantage of the nomadic aspect of working from home every once in while. However, that laptop desk was too big to put into my messenger bag.

Then I discovered the MAX SMART Portable Laptop Desk. It provides exactly what I’m looking for: the ability to use a mouse and portability. The slide out tray has a small rubber strip on the end which prevents the mouse from falling if the desk is tilted. And it’s compact and light enough to easily fit into my messenger bag. I highly recommend it if you value simplicty and portability. I paid around $30 and definitely feel like that is a fair price.
